Events leading up to 2012 festival

Totnes Lantern Festival 2012

Plans are afoot for another wonderful Lantern Procession this year. Put 29th September in your diary and come and join us for a fabulous evening of lanterns, music, dragon dance and theater that starts at Vire Island at 6.30. This year we will be celebrating the Autumn harvest full moon along with St Michael's day.

Totnes Lantern Festival is a community event that enables all of us to come together in joyous celebration of our wonderful town and its people and we hope that you will join in with our preparations and celebrations. We warmly invite you to come along and make your own lanterns for the procession. Lantern making workshops are being held just prior to the event in the Town Hall on 22nd and 23rd September.

To help raise funds for the event we are also organising a magical community fundraising party' on 1st September in Leechwell Gardens from 6.30 till 9.30. This will be a beautiful evening in itself: There will be a warm community atmosphere in which you will be surrounded by beautiful lanterns and an abundance of tea lights for you to relax under the full moon and enjoy live music and theatre (kindly volunteered by local musicians and artists). We will also have food stalls. There will be onsite collection buckets and we would appreciate your donations to help with the costs of the procession event. This will be a whole family event so would ask that there be no alcohol, but feel free to dress up in the spirit of Autumn Night Dream

Sat 4th June 2012 - 9.45pm. meet at the Plains (bottom of Totnes High Street) for more information visit:
